Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great festive season.
I’ve been a bit MIA for the last month due to a couple of things, but I’m going to try and keep this blog up as a goal for 2018.
I’m not a big New Years Resolution type person, but this will be my first full year out of education and I think it’s the perfect time to try and break some bad habits as well as forming some new ones. This isn’t an attempt to create a ‘new me’, but rather improve the current version.
Like nearly everyone, I like buying things. However, I need to realise that saving is more important than the physical stuff no matter how nice the shoes or dress. I have an ISA which puts some money away each month which I currently use as my travel budget. I’m very lucky as I still live at home and don’t have to pay rent whilst I’m in my current relatively low-paying job, so my outgoing expenses are minimal (food, petrol, the odd train ticket). When I really try, I can spend under £10 a week, and this year I want to make sure I’m saving as much as possible so I can start saving for more than just my next holiday away.
Learn a new language
I’ve wanted to learn a language for a while but haven’t had the chance to due to University. Now I have some spare time, I want to get back into trying to learn French. I attempted it last year with Duolingo which I found pretty simple and fun, so I want to get back into it again!
Begin to exercise again
After my dissertation, my exercise routine went down the drain. I want to re-join the gym and try to get fitter. As I’m trying to also save money, I’m going to start running to begin with to make sure I can keep it up and don’t waste money!
I haven’t read as much as I would have liked to over the years, so I started the new year with a few new books to get me going! The first book on my list is Mythos by Stephen Fry, which I’m enjoying so far!
Despite saving money, I still want to travel! 2017 was such a good year for exploring new places, I want to continue to see more of the world!
What are your goals for 2018?
